Unwinding

The unwinding or rewinding process is a slitting system for adhesive rolls through unwinding/rewinding.
Rewinding involves converting large adhesive rolls, called “jumbos,” into smaller rolls, called “logs,” which are then cut into individual rolls.
STEPUP FOR UNWINDING AND REWINDING A JUMBO
- Loading and positionning the Jumbos
Large adhesive rolls, known as Jumbos, are loaded onto a unwinding machine, which is designed to unwind these large rolls. The positioning is achieved using a lever that lifts and rotates the roll horizontally to keep it in place. A jumbo roll weighs between 500 kg and 1.4 tons. Typically, a jumbo measures at least 1 meter in width and has a length of 200 to 1,500 meters. - Unwinding
The unwinding machine begins to unwind the Jumbo. This process is often automated and controlled by sensors and tension systems to ensure smooth and wrinkle-free unwinding. The unwinding and rewinding speeds can vary from 0 to 180 meters per minute, with adjustable unwinding. - Rewinding into logs
The rolls are then wound around mandrels to form Logs. Logs are long but have a smaller diameter compared to Jumbos. During the winding process, the tension of the paper is carefully controlled to ensure uniform and precise winding. This winding process prevents wrinkles or tears. - The next step is to cut these logs into adhesive rolls of the desired dimensions !
advantages of the adhesive tapes slitting process
- Efficiency: The process of unwinding jumbos into logs is highly automated, enabling fast and efficient production. It maintains constant tension on the material, which is crucial for preventing wrinkles, tears, or irregularities.
- Quality: Precise control of tension and dimensions ensures consistent quality in the finished products. By avoiding wrinkles and tears, the unwinder reduces material waste, which is both economical and environmentally friendly.
- Flexibility: Unwinders can be adjusted to produce logs of different sizes and specifications, making them versatile and adaptable to various industrial applications, thus meeting diverse market demands.
The unwinding process applies to all types of adhesive masses, whether single- or double-sided, and to various substrates such as foam, fabric, and kraft paper.
